Are you Fighting Darkness… or Turning on the Lights!

One of the biggest detriments to modern healthcare and preventing people from achieving Optimum Health is the belief that “Health is the absence of Disease.”  Why is this?

Imagine you are in a pitch-black room with no light.  Is there anything you can do about the darkness to make the room light?   Can you push out the darkness?  Spray it with a chemical?  Chop it out of the room?   Obviously not.  The only way to get rid of the darkness is to TURN ON THE LIGHTS.   Darkness is the absence of light.  Not the other way around.   Light is the “something” that when removed causes darkness.

Likewise, DISEASE IS THE ABSENCE OF HEALTH…not the other way around.   Health is the “something” that when removed causes disease.   Just as fighting darkness without adding light is a futile effort, so, fighting disease without ADDING HEALTH will never work.   This perspective shift is necessary for a person to truly experience Optimum Health.

So how do we “turn on the lights” of Health?  Here are 7 simple ways:

  1. Get Adjusted! – Our life force flows and expresses through our nervous system.   When there is a “subluxation” or nerve interference due to stress and tension of the spinal cord, nerves, muscles and joints of the spine, it inhibits the flow of our life energy and dis-ease occurs.   Always.   Even the word “subluxation” says it all.   “Sub-” = “less than”, “-Lux-” = “light”, “-ation” = “a condition of”.   A subluxation is a condition of the spine causing less light in the body.   So, get adjusted regularly and keep the lights on.  In our office, we found NetworkSpinal to be the most effective.  Learn more here: https://www.placeforhealing.com/audio-video.html
  2. Meditate – Regularly quieting the mind and spending time in silent awareness helps reduce stress, relaxes the body and mind, increases awareness and causes a general sense of well-being.  If you would like to learn a simple, but highly effective form of meditation, learn the Self Discovery Present Moment Awareness (PMA) Technique at https://youtu.be/IQ2Yj0RhHzE?si=DLzLtbrq5DdzZ7ML
  3. Spend Time in Nature – Being in nature is another way to relax, energize and rejuvenate the body and mind.   Take a walk in a park, a forest or the beach.  If you can, take off your shoes and get grounded with the earth.  Take deep breaths.  Practice PMA while walking and connect with the natural world around you.  This is a beautiful way to turn on the lights of health.
  4. Drink Water and Eat Nutritiously – Food and water provide the energy and materials the body need to function properly and stay healthy.  Drink one-half your body weight in ounces of pure, filtered water every day to be properly hydrated.  Our favorite water is the Nikken PiMag Waterfall.  You can learn more at: https://thrive.store.nikken.com/thrive/Shopping/ItemList?filterID=1&SharedLink=False
And, eating healthy can be easier than you think.   Fruits, vegetables, protein.   A good rule of thumb is 70-80% fruits and veggies and 20-30% Protein, Starches and all the other.  And, read your labels.  If there is anything in the ingredients that doesn’t sound like a food (i.e. monosodium glutamate) then don’t buy it or eat it!
  5. Exercise – Moving, stretching and challenging the body creates greater strength, flexibility, resilience and energy.   Regularly exercising will turn on the lights of health and ensure a strong, healthy body.   Even if you take a nice, brisk 20 minute walk out in nature a few times a week is often enough to provide adequate exercise.
  6. Breathe! – Throughout the day, take a moment to take a few DEEP breaths.  Deliberate breathing increases our oxygen and energy and helps relax and rejuvenate the body and mind.
  7. And most importantly, ENJOY YOUR LIFE! – In the 85 year Harvard Grant study, it was demonstrated that the most important factor for living a long, healthy life was by Enjoying your Life.   In this study, they found that around the world, the people who lived well into their 90’s, 100’s and beyond had loving, rewarding relationships with family, loved ones and friend; had fulfilling work that they were passionate about; they were involved in their community and contributed to the well-being of others and took time to engage in fun activities that they enjoyed.

So, rather than continuing to look for ways to fight disease and health problems, instead start adding these 7 strategies to your daily routine and watch the light of your health begin to shine brighter and BRIGHTER!
